The Greatest Escape

PebbleGrey.co.uk surveyed 1,000 men and 1,000 women in September to find out more about Bathroom Refuge and how British families use their bathrooms.

The results found that one-third of British men admit to hiding out in their bathroom for peace and quiet. And the one that shocked the public the most? Men spend seven hours per year in the bathroom, solely for peace and quiet! Missed it? Read it online, here.

We are now turning the tables around to show you the results from our female audience… the truth is about to be released!

We found that, on average, women tend to visit the bathroom up to six times in just one day – and this isn’t just to use the toilet. This could be anything from showering/bathing, cleaning up, applying makeup/styling themselves or to simply get some peace and quiet.

Although this may seem like a lot, most women would say that at least 1 in 10 of their visits to the bathroom are interrupted by somebody in their household.

Statistic received through OnePoll survey – September 2018

In fact, over 40% of women say that they get interrupted in the bathroom by their children more than they do by their partner.

When asked “What is the most common reason why you might hide away in the bathroom?” over 100 women claimed it was to ‘Catch a break from the children’… that’s 1 in 10 women!

Because of this, we found the next question to be extremely interesting. When we asked 1,000 women if they used their bathroom to hide something from their partner or children, this resulted in almost 30% of women admitting to hiding snacks in their bathroom!

Another eye-opener for us was finding out that 35% of women tend to lock themselves in the bathroom when they are feeling upset and they want to keep it quiet.

Maybe we can use this as an opportunity to check up on our loved ones more often and make sure we are there for them when they need us the most; maybe not so much when they’re actually using the toilet though!

And our final statistic for this piece tells us that 28% of women agree that their partner spends more time in the bathroom than they do! Would you agree with them?
