Small Bathrooms
Small bathrooms range up to 8.8m3*. To maximise the extraction in a room of this size, you would be looking at fan with a recommended airflow of 35m3/hr at minimum. We recommend using our calculator to see airflow recommendations based on your exact measurements.
Medium Bathrooms
Medium bathrooms range from 8.8m3 to 19.8m3. To maximise the ventilation extraction in a room of this size, you would be looking at fan with a recommended airflow of up to 80m3/hr. We recommend using our calculator to see airflow recommendations based on your exact measurements.
Our Ventus axial ventilation fans have a maximum airflow of 80m3/hr so would be the best match for medium bathrooms.
Large Bathrooms
Large bathrooms are anything 19.8m3 and over. To maximise the ventilation extraction in a room of this size, you would be looking at fan with a recommended airflow of over 80m3/hr*. We recommend using our calculator to see airflow recommendations based on your exact measurements.
The Ventus Pro Inline Fan with Kit has a maximum airflow of 234m3/hr on high speed, and 165m3/hr on low speed, so would be the best match for large bathrooms.

Are extractor fans in bathrooms worth it?
Bathrooms are prone to excess moisture and dampness, which can lead to the growth of black mould. Having an extractor fan in your bathroom helps reduce humidity and condensation, prevent this from happening. This not only saves you from the hassle of cleaning but also helps maintain a healthier environment for you and your family. As excessive mould buildup can even lead to respiratory issues and allergic reactions according to the NHS.
Do all bathroom extractor fans need to vent outside?
To comply with UK building regulations, your bathroom must have proper ventilation through either an openable window or an extractor fan that vents outside. If you did not vent the air outside, moist air could be directed to other spaces in your home and cause mould or rot.
Do UK bathrooms legally need an extractor fan?
UK regulations stipulate ventilation requirements for bathrooms, outlined in the Building Regulations Document F. To comply, your bathroom must have proper ventilation through either an openable window or an extractor fan that vents outside. New build properties with both a bath and shower must use an extractor fan due to increased airtightness. The ventilation requirement is 15 litres per second/54m3 per hour.
