What IP rating do I need for a bathroom ceiling light?
For most bathroom ceilings, IP44 is the minimum we recommend. It protects against splashes from any direction. If the light sits directly above a bath or shower (Zone 1, up to 2.25m from the floor), choose IP65, which is fully protected against water jets. Most of our ceiling lights are IP44 and our downlights are IP65. Your electrician will confirm the right rating for your layout.
Should I choose flush, semi-flush or spotlights for my bathroom?
Flush lights sit tight to the ceiling, so they suit low ceilings and small bathrooms. Semi-flush lights hang slightly lower and suit taller ceilings. Spotlights on a bar or plate let you point light exactly where you need it, such as over the basin or the bath.
Can I change the colour of the light?
Yes, on around half of our ceiling lights. Colour-adjustable (CCT) models switch between warm white (2700 to 3000K), natural (about 4000K) and cool white (5000 to 6500K). Warm white feels relaxing, and cool white is best for shaving and make-up.
Are your bathroom ceiling lights dimmable?
Some are. Dimmable models are marked on the product page. Use a dimmer switch that's compatible with LED lighting, because incompatible dimmers can cause flickering and aren't covered by the guarantee.
Do I need an electrician to fit a bathroom ceiling light?
Yes. Bathroom lighting connects to the mains, so it should always be fitted by a qualified electrician, and our guarantee requires this.
