No more wiping a hand across the glass. Every mirror in this range uses a built-in ... heating pad to stay clear, no matter how much condensation builds up.
What is a demister pad and how does it work?
A demister pad is a thin heating element fitted to the back of the mirror, which gently warms the glass so condensation can't form on the surface. It's the same basic principle as a heated rear windscreen in a car, just applied to a bathroom mirror instead. Because the pad heats the glass, rather than trying to clear fog after it's already formed, the mirror stays usable throughout your shower.
Is a demister mirror the same as a heated mirror?
Yes, "demister mirror," "heated mirror" and "anti-fog mirror" all describe the same feature, just using different language. Whichever term you search for, you're looking for a mirror with a built-in heating pad that prevents condensation from forming on the glass.
Are demister mirrors worth it?
For most bathrooms, yes, particularly if you shower or bathe in the same room as your mirror. A standard mirror without a demister pad can take several minutes to clear naturally after a hot shower, which is frustrating if you need to shave or apply make-up straight after. A demister pad removes that wait almost entirely, and the running cost is minimal since the heating element draws very little power.
How long does a demister mirror take to clear?
Most demister pads keep the mirror clear throughout your shower, since they're designed to prevent fogging, as opposed to removing it after the fact. If the mirror has been switched off and the room is already steamy, it typically takes a few minutes of the pad being active to clear the glass fully. Our guide on demister pad mirrors covers this in more detail, including how the technology compares to older anti-fog sprays and coatings.
Can I get a demister mirror with a shaver socket?
Yes, several of our demister designs include a built-in shaver socket, useful if your bathroom is short on power points elsewhere. Our full range of shaver socket bathroom mirrors shows every design with this feature across the site, not just within this collection.
Are demister mirrors illuminated?
Most are. The majority of mirrors in this range combine a demister pad with LED lighting, so you get a clear, well-lit reflection at the same time. A small number are non-illuminated, offering just the demister function at a lower price point, which suits bathrooms that already have good lighting in place. Since demister pads require a steady power draw, nearly all of our demister mirrors are mains powered, rather than battery operated.
