A 10-year guarantee on a bathroom mirror is unusual enough to raise a reasonable question: what does it actually cover? This guide explains exactly what is included, how to activate it, what falls outside it, and why it matters when choosing a mirror.
What the guarantee covers
The 10-year extended guarantee covers manufacturing defects — faults that arise from a defect in the materials or workmanship of the product under normal domestic use.
In practical terms, this means:
- LED failure. If the LED strip or LED driver fails under normal use, this is covered. LED failure is rare — the components are rated to approximately 50,000 hours — but when it does happen prematurely, it almost always indicates a component defect.
- Electrical component failure. Internal failures of the touch sensor, motion sensor, transformer, or demister pad element.
- Structural manufacturing defects. Hinges that fail under normal use, shelf brackets that break, or cabinet bodies that warp or delaminate.
- Demister pad failure. If the demister stops functioning and the fault is not caused by incorrect use or moisture ingress from improper cleaning.
The guarantee is product-specific and applies from the date of purchase.
What the guarantee does not cover
Understanding what is excluded is as important as understanding what is included.
Accidental damage is not covered. A cracked mirror door, a broken hinge caused by over-extension, or physical impact damage falls outside the guarantee regardless of how it occurred.
Incorrect installation. If a wired product is not installed by a Part P registered electrician, any subsequent fault is not covered under the guarantee. The guarantee is also voided if the product is installed outside the bathroom zones for which it is rated (all PG mirrors and cabinets are rated for Zones 1 and 2).
Damage caused by incorrect cleaning. Spraying cleaning products directly onto the mirror glass or using bleach, solvents, or abrasive cleaners can damage the mirror backing and the frame finish. This type of deterioration is not covered.
Normal wear and tear. Surface scratches, minor finish dulling over many years of use, or the gradual natural ageing of materials is not a manufacturing defect.
Labour and fitting costs. If a replacement is sent under the guarantee, the cost of removing the old product and installing the new one is not covered. We recommend keeping the contact details of your installer for this reason.
How to activate the extended guarantee
The standard guarantee is 12 months and applies automatically to every purchase. No action is required for the 12-month guarantee.
To extend this to 10 years for mirrors and cabinets, or 5 years for lighting fixtures, you must complete the free registration form within 30 days of purchase.
The registration takes under two minutes at pebblegrey.co.uk/pages/extended-guarantee-registration. You will need:
- Your order number
- The product SKU (shown on the label on the side of the box)
- Your installation date
Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with your warranty reference number. Keep this email — you will need the reference number if you ever make a claim.
If you miss the 30-day window, the 12-month standard guarantee still applies. The extended period cannot be added retrospectively after the window closes.
How to make a claim
If your product develops a fault that you believe is covered by the guarantee, contact us at support@pebblegrey.co.uk or call 01977 522021 (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm).
Have the following ready:
- Your order number
- Your warranty registration reference (from the confirmation email)
- A description of the fault
- Clear photos or a short video showing the issue
- Confirmation that the product was installed by a qualified electrician (for wired products)
We aim to respond to all guarantee claims within 2 working days. Following assessment, we will advise on the resolution — this may be a replacement unit, a component assessment, or an explanation of why the fault falls outside the guarantee terms.
Why the 10-year guarantee matters
Most bathroom mirrors and cabinets carry a 12-month guarantee as standard. A handful of premium brands extend this to 2 or 3 years. A 10-year guarantee is genuinely unusual in this category, and it reflects something specific about how we build our products.
The components that determine longevity in an LED bathroom mirror — the LED driver, the LED strip, the demister element, the hinge mechanism — are the same regardless of whether a product carries a 1-year or 10-year guarantee. What changes is the manufacturer's confidence in those components, and their willingness to stand behind them over time.
From a purely practical standpoint, a 10-year guarantee changes the economics of the purchase decision. A £280 mirror that lasts 10 years under a guarantee costs less than a £150 mirror that fails at year 3 and needs replacing. The guarantee is not just a reassurance — it is a meaningful part of the value proposition.
Amazon purchases
If you purchased a Pebble Grey product through Amazon, your 10-year guarantee is applied automatically. You do not need to complete the registration form. To make a claim, contact us directly with your Amazon order number.
A note on second-hand purchases
The Pebble Grey extended guarantee applies to the original purchaser only. It is not transferable to a subsequent owner — whether through resale, gifting, or property sale. The standard 12-month guarantee may still apply to the original purchase date, depending on when the purchase was made.
If you have moved into a property with a Pebble Grey product already installed and are experiencing a fault, contact us with the product SKU and we will advise on what support we are able to offer.
