Quick answer: Choose a bathroom mirror no wider than the vanity unit below it (500 x 700mm suits most single basins), pick a shape that suits the room, and decide whether you want built-in LED lights. Hang it with the centre at roughly eye level. All our LED mirrors are IP44 rated for bathroom use.

What types of bathroom mirrors can I choose from?

Choosing a bathroom mirror comes down to how you want to use it, where it’s going, and what your bathroom looks like. Here are the main types we stock.

What shape bathroom mirror should I choose?

Shape changes the feel of a room considerably. A round bathroom mirror softens angular tiling or straight-edged vanity units. A rectangular bathroom mirror suits wide walls and creates a clean, structured look. If your wall is narrow, a portrait bathroom mirror makes the most of vertical space. A landscape bathroom mirror works well above double basins.

Oval and pill-shaped mirrors add something a little different without feeling out of place. Arched bathroom mirrors do the same. They bring a gentle curve and extra height.

Our blog on how to choose the right mirror shape for your bathroom walks you through the key decisions.

What size bathroom mirror do I need?

As a general rule, your mirror should be no wider than the basin unit below it and sit comfortably between the worktop and any overhead cabinetry. Smaller bathrooms and cloakrooms do well with compact sizes starting at 390mm x 500mm. These small bathroom mirrors still make a visual impact without overpowering a tight space.

Our mirrors come in sizes from 500mm to 1000mm. For a standard single basin, a 500mm x 700mm mirror is a popular starting point. For double basins, look at 900mm or larger.

Our guide on how to find the right mirror size for your bathroom has more detail if you'd like a clearer starting point.

Are your bathroom mirrors mains or battery-powered?

Most of our illuminated bathroom mirrors are mains-powered. They connect to your home’s electrics and are IP44 rated for safe use in bathroom zones. If you can’t run new wiring in your bathroom, our battery-powered bathroom mirrors run on AA batteries or a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, so they’re easy to fit almost anywhere. Non-illuminated mirrors need no power at all.

Which bathroom mirror features are worth looking for?

Depending on if you choose an illuminated or classic bathroom mirror, you might come across optional features which make your daily routine easier. Here's a quick overview of what's available:

      • Demister pads: A heated pad on the back of the mirror keeps the glass clear of condensation. Ideal for steamy bathrooms. Browse our demister bathroom mirrors.

      • Dimmable lighting: Adjust brightness to suit the time of day, from bright task lighting in the morning to something softer in the evening.

      • Colour-adjustable LEDs: Switch between warm white and cool white to match the task.

      • Touch and motion sensors: Tap the mirror to activate the light, or let it respond to movement. Browse motion sensor bathroom mirrors.

      • Ambient lighting: A soft glow behind or around the mirror that adds atmosphere. See our ambient LED mirrors.

      • Shaver sockets: Charge your electric shaver or toothbrush directly from the mirror. Browse mirrors with shaver sockets.

      • Bluetooth speakers: Stream music straight from the mirror while you get ready.

What bathroom mirror finish should I go for?

Our illuminated mirrors are mostly frameless, which keeps things clean and contemporary. For non-illuminated or framed options, we offer several finishes: black, brass, chrome and white. Black bathroom mirrors work well in monochrome or industrial-style bathrooms, where white bathroom mirrors complement smaller spaces and lighter rooms. Brass-finish mirrors suit warmer tones, terrazzo surfaces and natural materials, while chrome bathroom mirrors are classic, versatile and easy to match.

How high should I hang my bathroom mirror?

The centre of the mirror should sit at roughly eye level for the primary user. For most adults, that puts the centre between about 150cm and 160cm from the floor. Read our guide on how high to hang a bathroom mirror for a full walkthrough.

How do I clean a bathroom mirror properly?

For a streak-free finish, avoid paper towels. Use a microfibre cloth with a little water or a diluted glass cleaner. Work in circular motions from the centre outwards, then buff dry with a clean cloth. Avoid spraying liquid directly onto the glass if your mirror has built-in lighting, as moisture can affect the electrics over time.

Are LED bathroom mirrors safe to use in a bathroom?

Yes. Our LED mirrors are IP44 rated, which makes them suitable for bathroom Zone 2 and beyond. Check each product page for its rating. Mirrors with a shaver socket must be fitted outside Zone 2. Our guide to UK bathroom electrical zones and IP ratings explains the zones.

Does an LED bathroom mirror need an electrician?

Most of our illuminated mirrors are mains powered, so they need to be connected by a qualified electrician (Part P of the Building Regulations applies in bathrooms). Battery-powered and non-illuminated mirrors need no electrical work. See our battery-operated mirrors.

What guarantee do your bathroom mirrors come with?

Every mirror has 12 months' cover as standard. Register an LED mirror within 30 days of purchase and it is covered for 10 years, free (iron and PVC models excluded). Register your guarantee here.

Will a demister pad stop my mirror steaming up?

Yes. A demister pad is a thin heating pad behind the glass that gently warms the mirror so it stays clear of steam after a shower. Browse our demister bathroom mirrors.
