LED mirrors

Do LED mirrors use alot of electricity?

LEDs mirrors are one of the most energy-efficient ways of adding light to your interior space in comparison to traditional incandescent bulb. All of our mirrors and cabinets containing lights use LED’s which are significantly cheaper to run than other light sources. They also have a far superior lifespan. The average LED has a lifespan of roughly 50,000 hours, some 42 times longer than a traditional incandescent bulb.

How much does it cost to run an LED mirror?

Each LED mirror has a different power requirement (wattage) depending on its features if it includes, a demister pad, shaver socket, Bluetooth or motion sensor. The more features the higher the product wattage, meaning a higher running cost. However, all our products are designed with efficiency in mind, not only saving you money but saving the planet from high energy usage.

We have calculated the average running cost of our LED mirror range including all their product features to make it easier for you. With the current rate of electricity being 33.2p KWh our LED mirrors range cost less than 2p an hour to run, with 40% being less than 1p an hour.

How to calculate hourly running cost of an LED mirror?

To calculate your own LED mirror running cost, you can use the following formula:
Electricity cost per day = (Wattage of LED mirror / 1000) x hours of use per day x cost of electricity per kilowatt-hour
With the electricity costing 33.2p per kilowatt-hour and our average LED mirror being 30 watts. Using the formula above, we can calculate the cost of running your LED mirror:
Electricity cost per hour = (30 watts / 1000) x 1 hour x £0.332 = £0.010 per hour.

Tips on extra ways to save electricity in the bathroom?

  1. Being the simplest, turn off the lights when not in use as electricity usage all add up.

  2. Use one light source such as and LED mirror instead of turning all your bathroom lights on. Some of our products have cool to warm technology allowing you to control the temperature of the lighting. Meaning you can control how light or dark the bathroom feels.

  3. Use LED lights rather than incandescent or fluorescent bulbs as LED’s use significantly less electricity and lass much longer. At Pebble Grey we only use energy efficient LEDs in all our products.

  4. If you have an electric shower, install a low flow shower head, which reduces water wastage and reduces the amount of electricity used to heat the water.

  5. For bathroom extractor fans, install one with a timer to ensure it isn’t left on longer than necessary.

  6. Try towel drying your hair instead of using a hair dryer to reduce your electrical appliance usage.
